Hmmm... Where do I even start ? Since my last post (emmy nom for SOA), a lot o' stuff has happened ! Most important of all, I've got two amazing kids now ! But, I digress. I'm gonna start using this 'news' section for everything (personal, biz, styling tips...huh!?!?) But I will try and keep it organized with titles on the entries. Here you go...

In April, my longtime friend John O'Brien and I were called upon by Bob Thiele jr (SOA music spvsr) to try and compose all the music for a new cop show starting this fall (2010). VELVET REVOLVER...
Well, if you a fan of the band, you've probably seen a lot of press where Slash says we're still a band, AND the next record will be heavier AND that we're gonna get back to work in Feb 2010 AND we still don't have a singer... Well, its ALL true ! That's where that's at.
TOTAL GUITAR magazine...
I just wrote my first column for these guys. Its Europe's biggest guitar mag, so I'm really honored. Its a column on recording and the first one is out soon (not sure if its the next issue though).

HISSss the movie....
this is a film by Jennifer Lynch. Franky Perez and i had written a song for the U.S. troops that Franky gave away via download on one of his trips to Iraq to play for the troops. I took the voCals off and messed around with it and called it 'Beyond the Snake'. it will appear over the end title credits for this film. http://www.hisssthemovie.com/default.htm
HAMILL the movie...
this is a movie about UFC fighter Matt Hamill who rose to fame from the Ultimate Fighter series. It's his story as a deaf fighter and the struggles he overcame. Franky Perez and i did four songs that will appear in the film
BARTROCK....
A new merch line from the Simpsons. a good friend of mine Dave Warren who works at FOX wanted to write a song to tie in with the merch line. It's killer . he and I, along with Franky Perez, John O'Brien and Dave Navarro all worked on it together.
that's all i can think of now, although i know there's more but my fingers hurt from all the typing !

Jeez.... What's wrong with me !?!? No tour updates forever ! Sorry people. Things get a little nuts out here. Everything is great ! Donnington was unbelievable ! There was like 700,000 people !!! Well... More like 70,000.... But that's still a lot ! This is by far the best trip to Europe.

Hello everyone from SOUTH AMERICA !!!!
Well.... It's finally happened ! Tour # 2 has actaully started. Everything has been great ! The band vibes are really good, the people out here are so gracious, and the fans at the shows have been amazing !!!! First night.... 17 thousand. Second night with Aerosmith.... 60 thousand. Standing onstage and playing for all those people.... Priceless !!! I can't say enough about it here. Still gettin my tour legs back. Peace out.

A letter from my wife to our families...
Hi guys,
How's it going?
Thought I'd catch you up on what's going on over here in VR land.
We left Chile & Dave's dad this morning and now in Brazil. We just had the craziest police escort by about 8 cops on motorcyles with non stop flashing lights and sirens, on a hour ride from the airport. It was crazy.
They were escorting our vans on the wrong side of the road for miles while stopping all traffic to let us through. The motorcycle cops were sling shoting each other from the back of our vans to the front- then one would jump off the motorcycle on the street - stop traffic-then let us go through and then jump back on therir motorcycles, right through red lights!! I was a bit scared for the cops, there was so many cars, it seemed as though they could of gotten hit by one. It was as if the President of the U.S. was in the vans...not Velvet Revolver!!!
Dave's concert is tomorrow night with a little band called AEROSMITH, who is also staying at our hotel. I believe they sold about 55 thousand tickets. We have body gaurds so don't worry about us -we'll be safe.
There's many fans that just simply hang out in the lobby or outside of the hotel just to get a glimpse of the band. Even the airport/passport employee's at the airports stop the band for photos! ...VR mania, it's very exciting. The whole band (and wives) are all getting along really well, and having a good time going to dinners together and such. Great fun!
...Just a little update of what's going on down here. We'll keep you posted.

To my peeps....
Well, we started rehearsals last week for the new tour (South America) and the new songs sound KILLER !!! Its cool to finally figure out how we'll do them live. Not sure yet how many we'll do, but they sound great ! Also, I really want to thank everyone for making the forum on this site come to life ! (And you guys thought I didn't read that stuff). I appreciate all the support & good vibes put forth by all of you. Got a couple days off, then its back to playin all next week. I'll give another update then (some pics too).

Dear journal....
Just got done playin the Rock & Roll induction ceremony in NYC ! It was really amazing. Gotta be honest.... Was a more nervous having to give part of the induction speech for Van Halen than I was playing. And let's talk about that ! If you would have told me when I was 16 yrs old, playing guitar in my bedroom, that when I grew up I'd be playing an exact replica of Eddie Van Halens "Frankenstien" guitar onstage at that ceremony, I'd of told you to GET OUTTA MY ROOM !!! It was really somethin ! Its a shame they didn't all make the induction (all of Van Halen) but it was still a highlight in my career. Hope u guys got a chance to check it out. I think its gonna be rebroadcast on VH1 later this week. Enjoy (I did). More to come soon !

Hey everyone, well.... Its finally here. The last day in the studio was yesterday ....sniff.... sniff.... and now all that's left to do is finish mixing. I can't even express to u people how f%@$n awesome it sounds !!!!! All the tracking is done. Just some last min vox and finish mixing. Its gonna be a good one!

Hey Kids.... Just woke up and realized sumthin... WHAT A NIGHT !!!!! It was killer !!! Jammed some acoustic blues/country/rock jams last night at the Hotel Cafe in Hollywood. Me, Shooter Jennings & Leroy (pedalsteel & git plyr from Shooter's band) whooped it up last night at Tom Morello's (RAGE) night. Tom played first as the Nightwatchmen and us. There was also a jam at the end with all mentioned above plus Ben Harper & Cypress Hill. Next time I'll put it on the site BEFORE it happens (sorry). It was a star-studded event too ! CNN was there filming, all kinds of actorz an shit, a real live who's who. Pics comin soon. See ya

Hey everyone,
Just got back from Sundance (brrrrrr) and boy are my legs tired..... from SNOWBOARDING !!!!!!! Man, Park City snow is awesome !!!!! Thanx to Burton for the board and bindings too!!!! Anyway, had a great time. Went to an awesome charity event for Picaboo Street's Natl. Children's Alliance for abused kids and it was pretty heavy. It feels great to be in a position to help out a worthy cause.
Then, hung at the gifting house my wife was a part of and got to see fireside acoustic performances by Shooter Jennings, Tyler Hilton & Daredevil Jane. Whoa, those stripped-down, acoustic /vocal performances by Shooter & Tyler were really amazing ! So, to wrap things up, saw no movies, froze my ass off, didn't sleep enough & had an AMAZING time !!!! Now its back to work.

Waaaaasssaaaappp !?!?!?!? Hey everyone. Yoko found this short video shoutout to all my peeps out there. Its a week or so old, but its still current. Went to see Slash get inducted to the RockWalk with my buddy Stevie D. (Buckcherry) on wed. It was really awesome! The whole band was there, Slash's family & friends, all to honor our boy ! Record Two, week.... uuhhhhh... not sure,
Sorry for the lack of info kids (holidays and all). Hope everyone had a great Xmas & New Years. Mine was pretty chill. Anyway, the guitars are going amazingly well !!!!!!! I can't even put into words how excited I am and how great its sounding ! Slash's tones on this record are really goin places they haven't gone before & Brendans really helped me play and sound even better than I already do ( who'da thought it ws possible!). Seriously, Brendans really great at helping me find my vision and also pointing me in directions I wouldn't even think of on my own. Boy o boy.... Things are really shaping up !!!!

Record 2, Week 2....
Hey people....
Just wanted to keep u guys in the loop. We're about 11 or 12 songs in! Its goin great! Vibes r good, Brendan is great, his team is awesome and everyone is playin (and singin) great. I'm really stoked on Brendan helpin me find some great tones with alot of different guitars & amps. I can't wait to do guitars! Stay tuned.....

Hey Kids!
Hey kids...
Just got back from Vegas from the 944 magazine 1yr anniversary party. Camp Freddy played and I played with them for the first time ever! Had a f%ckin great time. Saw the the new Superman movie in 3D (pretty cool). My wife's company (Double Platinum Swag) also did this insane gifting lounge in one of the Palm's hotels 2 story suites with a balcony that is a small swimming pool.
Now its back to work on the new VR record. We've got about 12 songs demo'd and a lot more comin, so stay tuned and welcome to my site!!! Stay tuned....
